3rd Party Fees
Merchant Processor:
Sage Advice works with third parties to assist in prompt and secure payment to our advisors. Stripe charges for every transaction for content sold, typically around 2.9% + 30 cents. This fee is charged to the purchaser for the total purchase amount and does not affect the 80% creator payout from Sage Advice. For example, if you choose to have donations set at $10.00, the user will be charged $10.59
Tax:
We are not an intermediary, so we do not handle VAT taxes. So we will not be pulling any of those fees from you, but advisors themselves need to take that as a reminder. Sales tax might be included in certain states, which will affect the advisor's final payout. For any users who make purchases on the iOS app, Apple collects and handles any taxes directly, including submitting them to the appropriate tax authorities.
Google & Apple (mobile app)
Unfortunately, both platforms charge creators a 15%-30% surcharge for in-app purchases made on mobile devices. There are current legal battles against Apple & Google to eliminate these surcharges that we continue to monitor. When a user donates through in-app purchases, Google & Apple's standard policy requires that they take a 15%-30% transaction fee per transaction. Remember, you always have the option to increase your requested donation to offset Apple's & Google's required fees.
Google & Apple (website)
If a user purchases content from the Sage Advice website (not the mobile app), Apple and Google do not charge a surcharge.
